Probably the most impressive religious building all over the world. A millenary church (1500 years old!), now a mosque after the Ottomans conquered Constantinople. Hagia Sophia is surely the most important and most representative monument of all Istanbul. Its name come from Holy Wisdom and was first byzantine, then Catholic, now is known as Ayasofya Müzesi. Now it is a museum. Hagia Sophia with its muezzins make the skyline of Istanbul very typical. Hagia Sophia inside is just huge. Its dome is stunning and incredibly high. Surely thelargest Mosque in Istanbul and one of the largest ever. Inside this 'basilica' still have some mosaics and marble belonging to the catholic period. Muslim were so impressed of its beauty they couldn't make all these decoration disapper.

Topkapi Palace
Topkapi is the marvellous of the Sultan of Istanbul. A different kind of 'Royal Palace' not high but 'large' and still with an accurate attention for details. Topkapi Palace is a marvellous mix of oriental rooms, pools and courtyard. Topkapi Palace once was the place where much of decisions were take about Ottoman area, here the sultan had is life too and the famous harem. Topkapi is today a great museum overloaded of silence and remembering of the glorious past of Istanbul. This amazing 500years old building is one of the 'must see' in Istanbul.
